أخبرنا أبو عمرو عثمان بن أحمد السَّمّاك ببغداد، حدَّثنا يحيى بن جعفر بن الزِّبْرِقان، حدَّثنا أبو داود الطَّيالسي وعبدُ الصمد بن عبد الوارث، حدَّثنا محمد بن ثابت البُناني، عن أبيه، عن أنس بن مالك، عن أبي طلحة: أنه دخل على رسولِ الله ﷺ في وَجَعِه الذي مات فيه، فقال: "أقرِئْ قومَكَ السَّلامَ، فإنهم - ما عَلِمتُ - أعِفَّةٌ صُبُرٌ" (3). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during the illness in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Convey my greeting of peace to your people (the Ansar), for as far as I know, they are very chaste and patient people."

حدَّثنا علي بن حَمْشَاذَ العَدْل، حدَّثنا محمد بن غالب، حدَّثنا عبد الله بن عبد الوهاب، حدَّثنا عاصم بن سُوَيد، حدثني يحيى بن سعيد، عن أنس بن مالك، قال: جاءَ أُسيد بن حُضَير الأشهلي إلى رسول الله ﷺ وقد كان قَسَمَ طعامًا، فذَكَر له أهلَ بيتٍ من الأنصار من بني ظَفَرٍ فيهم حاجةٌ، قال: وجُلُّ أهل ذلك البيت نِسوةٌ، قال: فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: "تركتنا يا أُسيدُ حتى ذهبَ ما في أيدينا، فإذا سمعتَ بشيء قد جاءنا، فاذكُر لي أهلَ ذلك البيتِ"، قال: فجاءه بعدَ ذلك طعامٌ من خيبرَ (1) شعيرٌ وتمرٌ، قال: فقَسَمَ رسولُ الله ﷺ في الناس، وقَسَمَ في الأنصار فأجزلَ، وقَسَمَ في أهل ذلك البيت فأجزلَ، قال: فقال له أُسيدُ بن حُضير متشكِّرًا: جزاكَ الله أيْ نبيَّ الله عنَّا أفضلَ الجَزاء، أو قال: خيرًا، فقال النبيُّ ﷺ: "وأنتم يا معشرَ الأنصار، فجزاكم الله أطيبَ الجزاء - أو قال: خيرًا - فإنكم - ما عَلِمتُ - أعِفَّةٌ صُبُر، وسترونَ بعدي أَثَرةً في الأمر والقَسْم، فاصبِرُوا حتى تلقوني على الحَوْض" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr al-Ashhali (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) was distributing food. He mentioned to him (peace and blessings be upon him) a family of the Ansar, Banu Zafar, who were in great need, and most of the members of that household were women. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Usayd, you told us when what we had has already run out. Now, when you learn that something new has come to us, be sure to remind me of that household." So after that, food came from Khaybar: barley and dates. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it among the people, gave the Ansar a very generous share, and also gave that family a great deal. Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said in thanks: O Prophet of Allah, may Allah Almighty reward you on our behalf with the best reward. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And you, O community of the Ansar, may Allah reward you too with the purest reward, for as far as I know, you are very chaste and patient people. After me you will see others preferred over you (athara) (in rule and in the distribution of wealth), so be patient until you meet me at the Pond of Kawthar."
