Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscripts (Z) and (B) it was distorted here into the word "khubz" (bread).
Grading: This hadith is "jayyid" (good).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All its narrators are acceptable except Asim bin Suwayd. Abu Hatim called Asim bin Suwayd truthful (his position is truthfulness) but declared two of his narrations munkar; Ibn Ma'in said he did not know him, while Ibn Adi said that he narrated very little and therefore did not become well known. (Ibn Adi cited this hadith for him, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat".)
Important point: A narrator more reliable than him, Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi, contradicted him and narrated it from Yahya bin Sa'id, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim (bin al-Harith) al-Taymi, as "mursal".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Some parts of this narration have authentic supporting reports, which will be mentioned below.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Nasa'i (8287) from Ali bin Hujr, and by Ibn Hibban (7277) by way of Muhammad bin al-Sabbah, both from Asim bin Suwayd, with this chain.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tahawi in "al-Sunan al-Ma'thurah" (408) and al-Bayhaqi in "Ma'rifat al-Sunan" (238, 239) by way of al-Shafi'i, from Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi, from Yahya bin Sa'id, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Taymi, as "mursal". This chain is "sahih" up to Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Taymi.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the hadith of Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) himself, narrated in al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 8/ 439, Ibn Abi Asim (1739, 1770), Abu Ya'la (945), Ibn Hibban (7279), al-Tabarani (568) and others, some of them in abridged form; its chain is "hasan".
Reference / Source: Ahmad 31/ (19092, 19094), al-Bukhari (3792, 7057), Muslim (1845), al-Tirmidhi (2189) and al-Nasa'i (5901, 8286) narrated it with the chain Anas, from Usayd bin Hudayr, that a man of the Ansar said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you not appoint me (as governor) as you appointed so-and-so? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me you will see others given preference (over you), so be patient until you meet me at the Basin."
Note / Clarification: For the words "chaste and patient", see the previous hadith.
Details of the narration: The hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) will come with the author (al-Hakim) under number (7276), in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah reward the Ansar with good on our behalf."
Note / Clarification: "Atharah" means reserving something exclusively for oneself (preferential treatment).
Important point: The author of "al-Nihayah" said: what is meant is that (the rulers after him) will favour others over you in the share of the fay' (spoils) and in rights, and will deprive you of your due.
