Then I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Were it not for the (virtue of) emigration, I would have liked to be one of the Ansar. And if the Ansar were to travel through a valley or a mountain pass, I would take the mountain pass of the Ansar."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the last sermon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered to us, he said: "O community of Muhajirun, you will keep increasing (in number), while the Ansar have stopped (at their number). They are my close companions and confidants ('aybah) with whom I take refuge. So honor those of them who do good, and overlook those of them who err."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out during his illness, having tied a cloth band around his blessed head. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People will keep increasing, but the Ansar will keep decreasing, until they become among the people like salt in food. So whoever among you is put in charge of any affair, let him accept the good of those among them who do good and overlook those among them who err."
