قال ابن عمر: وحدثني حزام بن هشام، عن أبيه قال: قالت جُويرية بنت الحارث: رأيتُ قبل قُدومِ النبيِّ ﷺ بثلاثِ ليالٍ كأنَّ (2) القمر أقبلَ يسيرُ من يثربَ حتى وقع في حَجْري، فكرهتُ أن أخبرَ بها أحدًا من الناس، حتى قَدِمَ رسولُ الله ﷺ، فلما سُبِينا رجوتُ الرؤيا، فلما أعتقني وتزوّجني، والله ما كلَّمتُه في قومي حتى كان المسلمون هم الذين أرسَلُوهم، وما شَعَرتُ [إلَّا] بجارية من بنات عمِّي تُخبِرني الخبرَ، فَحَمِدتُ الله ﷿ (3).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "Three nights before the arrival of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I saw in a dream as if the moon came travelling from Yathrib until it fell into my lap. I did not like to tell anyone about it until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived. When we were taken captive, I hoped for the fulfilment of my dream. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) freed me and married me, by Allah, I did not speak to him (peace and blessings be upon him) about my people at all, until the Muslims themselves released them. I only came to know when a girl, one of my paternal cousins, came and told me the news, upon which I praised Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."

Hadith 6949

حدّثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدّثنا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حدّثنا يونس بن بُكير، عن ابن إسحاق قال: وجُويرية بنت الحارث كان اسمُها بَرَّةَ بنت الحارث بن أبي ضِرار بن حبيب بن عائذ بن مالك بن جَذيمة من خُزَاعة، كانت عند ابن عمٍّ لها يقال له: مُسافِع بن صفوان بن ذي الشُّفْرَينِ (4).

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Ishaq that the name of Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith was formerly "Barrah". She was the daughter of al-Harith bin Abi Dirar and belonged to Banu al-Mustaliq, a branch of the tribe of Khuza'ah. She had been married to her paternal cousin Musafi' bin Safwan bin Dhi al-Shufrayn.

Hadith 6950

حدَّثني (5) محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء، عن زينبَ بنت أبي سلمة، عن جُويريةَ بنت الحارث: أنَّ اسمها كان بَرَّة، وغَيَّره ﷺ فسمَّاها جويريةَ، وكان يَكرَه أن يقال: خرجَ من عند بَرَّة (1). صحيح علي شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) that her name was formerly "Barrah", and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed it and named her "Juwayriyah", because he (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked that it be said: "He has come out from Barrah (righteousness)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith 6951

حدّثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا محمد بن غالب، حدّثنا أبو حُذيفة، حدّثنا زُهير، عن إسحاقَ بن يحيى بن طلحة، عن الزُّهْري، عن مالك بن أوس، عن عمر: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ ضَرَبَ على جويريةَ الحِجابَ، وكان يُقسِمُ لها كما يقسِمُ لنسائِه (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed the veil (hijab) for Sayyidah Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her), and he would allot her turn just as he allotted it to his other wives.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith 6952

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الزاهد الأصبهانيّ، حدّثنا أحمد بن مَهدي بن رُستُم، حدّثنا سعيد بن كثير بن عُفير وسعيدُ بن أبي مريم وأبو صالح، قالوا: حدّثنا الليث بن سعد، عن ابن شِهاب، أنَّ عبيد بن السَّبَّاق أخبره عن جُوَيرية بنت الحارث: أنَّ رسولَ الله ﷺ دخل عليها، فقال: "هل مِن طعامٍ؟ " قالت: لا والله يا رسول الله، ما عندنا طعامٌ إلَّا عظمٌ من شاةٍ أُعطيَتْه مولاتي من الصدقة، فقال: "قَرِّبيها، فقد بَلَغَت مَحِلَّها" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. ذكرُ أمِّ المؤمنين صَفيَّةَ بنت حُيَي ﵂

It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her and asked: "Is there anything to eat?" She said: By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we have nothing to eat except a bone of a sheep that was given to my freed slave-woman as charity. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring it near, for it has now reached its lawful place."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.
