حدَّثني أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حدّثنا إبراهيم بن إسحاق الحَرْبي، حدّثنا مصعب بن عبد الله الزُّبيريّ، حدّثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد، عن عمرو بن أبي عمرو، أنه سمع أنس بن مالك يقول: لما افتَتَح النبيُّ ﷺ خيبَرَ اصطفى صفيَّةَ بنتَ حُيي لنفسه، خرج بها النبيُّ ﷺ يُردِفُها وراءَه، ثم قال: رأيتُ رسولَ الله ﷺ يضعُ رجله حتى تقوم عليها فتركب، فلمَّا بلغ سَدَّ الصهباء عَرَّسَ بها، فَصَنَعَ حَيْسًا في نِطْع، وأمرني فدعوتُ له من حوله، فكانت تلك وليمة رسول الله ﷺ (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Khaybar, he (peace and blessings be upon him) chose Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) for himself. He (peace and blessings be upon him) set out with her seated behind him on his mount. Sayyiduna Anas says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) place his foot so that she could step on it and mount. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Sadd al-Sahba', he spent the night there with her, and prepared "hays" (a mixture of dates, dried curd and ghee) on a leather mat, and ordered me, so I invited the people around. This was the wedding feast (walimah) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
قال مصعب: وهي صفيَّة بنت حيي بن أخطب بن سعية بن ثعلبة بن عبيد بن الخزرج بن أبي حبيب بن النضر بن النحَّام بن ينحوم، من بني إسرائيل من سبط موسى ﵇، وأُمُّها بَرَّة بنت سَمَوال، هلكت في زمن معاوية.
Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri says that Sayyidah Safiyyah was the daughter of Huyayy bin Akhtab bin Sa'yah bin Tha'labah bin Ubayd bin al-Khazraj bin Abi Habib bin al-Nadir bin al-Nahham bin Yanhum. Her lineage, from the Children of Israel, goes back to the tribe of Musa (peace be upon him). Her mother was Barrah bint Samaw'al, and she died in the time of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).
أخبرنا عبد الله بن إسحاق الخُراساني العَدْل، حدثنا يحيى بن جعفر بن الزبرقان، حدثنا عبد الوهاب بن عطاء، أخبرنا خالد الحذاء، عن كثير بن زيد، عن الوليد بن رباح، عن أبي هريرة قال: لما دخل رسول الله ﷺ بصفية بات أبو أيوب على باب النَّبيِّ ﷺ، فلما أصبح فرأى رسول الله ﷺ كبر، ومع أبي أيوبَ السَّيفُ، فقال: يا رسول الله، كانت جاريةً حديثة عهد بعرس، وكنت قتلت أباها وأخاها وزوجها، فلم آمَنْها عليكَ، فَضَحِكَ رسول الله ﷺ وقال له خيرًا (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spent his wedding night with Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) spent the night at the door of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), holding a sword and keeping guard. When morning came and he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said Allahu Akbar, and he said: O Messenger of Allah, she was a young woman newly married, and you had killed her father, her brother and her husband, so I did not feel safe from her on your account. Hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed and spoke words of good about him.
