The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) marrying Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)

It is narrated from Habib (the freed slave of Urwah) that when Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) died, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was deeply grieved for her. So Jibril (peace be upon him) brought Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to him in a cradle and said: O Messenger of Allah, she will be a means of removing your grief, and in her you will find a replacement for Sayyidah Khadijah. Then she was taken back. Thereafter the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would frequently visit the house of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and would say: "O Umm Ruman, accept my counsel to treat Aishah well, and look after her for my sake." Because of this, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to have a special standing with her family, although they did not know what Allah Almighty had decreed concerning her. One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came - and from the time he accepted Islam until the Hijrah, no day passed without his going to the house of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) - and found Aishah hiding behind the door of Abu Bakr, weeping bitterly. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the reason, and she complained about her mother, that she was harsh with her. Hearing this, the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) filled with tears. He (peace and blessings be upon him) went to Umm Ruman and said: "O Umm Ruman, did I not counsel you about Aishah, that you should look after her for my sake?" She said: O Messenger of Allah, she told al-Siddiq (Abu Bakr) what we said, and he became angry with us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if she did (still look after her)." Umm Ruman said: "Now I will never hurt her." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was born at the beginning of the fourth year of Prophethood, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married her in the month of Shawwal in the tenth year of Prophethood, when she was six years old; and this marriage took place one month after the marriage to Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her).

It is narrated from Salim Sabalan that the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), died on the seventeenth night of the month of Ramadan after the Witr prayer. She had instructed that she be buried that same night. So the Ansar gathered in large numbers; so many people had never before been seen at any funeral. The people of the upper areas of Madinah (al-Awali) also took part, and she was buried in al-Baqi'.

It is narrated from Nafi'; he said: I was present when Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) led the funeral prayer of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) at al-Baqi', while Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was also among the people and raised no objection to it. That year Marwan had gone to perform Umrah and had appointed Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy.

It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) held the wish in her heart that she be buried in her apartment alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), but then she said: "I did some new things after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in my life), so bury me with his (peace and blessings be upon him) other wives." So she was buried in al-Baqi'.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.
