It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) held the wish in her heart that she be buried in her apartment alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), but then she said: "I did some new things after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in my life), so bury me with his (peace and blessings be upon him) other wives." So she was buried in al-Baqi'.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Sa'd in "al-Tabaqat" 10/ 73 through the route of Hasan bin Salih, and by Ibn Abi Shaybah 3/ 349 and 260/ 15 from Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah; both of them narrate it from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid with this same chain. The two narrations of Ibn Abi Shaybah are abridged. Note / Clarification: Al-Hafiz al-Dhahabi said in "al-Siyar" 2/ 193: By "the event" (al-hadath) she meant her setting out on the day of the Camel; she regretted it completely and repented of it, bearing in mind that she did that only on the basis of an interpretation (ta'wil) and intending good, just as Talhah bin Ubaydullah, al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam and a group of the senior (Companions) exercised ijtihad. May Allah be pleased with them all.
