(1). It is narrated from Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id al-Khudri that my father (Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id) said to me: "I have grown old, and my companions and close friends have gone, so take hold of my hand (when I walk)." The narrator says: He walked leaning on me until he reached a place at the farthest edge of al-Baqi' where (usually) graves were not dug. Having reached there, he said: "O my son, when I die, bury me right here. Do not pitch a tent over my grave, do not bring fire along with my funeral, let no wailing woman weep over me, and do not announce my death (formally, in a loud voice); rather, take me by the lane of Amqah, and let your pace be brisk (khabab)." Then he passed away on a Friday. Because of his instruction, I disliked informing the people, but the people came to me and began asking: "When will you bring him out (for burial)?" I said: "When I have finished preparing him (washing and shrouding), I will bring him out." (The narrator says:) Then al-Baqi' became filled with people.

It is narrated from Abu Nadrah that we said to Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): "You narrate to us very impressive hadiths, and we fear that we may add or omit something (when narrating them), so if only we could write them down." He said: "I will never have you write them, nor will we make it (a written book) like the Qur'an; rather, memorize from us just as we memorized." Then on another occasion he said: "Take (the hadiths) from us just as we took them from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the blessed forehead of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wounded. Malik bin Sinan (who was the father of Abu Sa'id) came to him, sucked the blood from his (peace and blessings be upon him) face (with his mouth) and swallowed it. At this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would be pleased to look at a man whose blood has mixed with my blood, let him look at Malik bin Sinan."
