(1). It is narrated from Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id al-Khudri that my father (Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id) said to me: "I have grown old, and my companions and close friends have gone, so take hold of my hand (when I walk)." The narrator says: He walked leaning on me until he reached a place at the farthest edge of al-Baqi' where (usually) graves were not dug. Having reached there, he said: "O my son, when I die, bury me right here. Do not pitch a tent over my grave, do not bring fire along with my funeral, let no wailing woman weep over me, and do not announce my death (formally, in a loud voice); rather, take me by the lane of Amqah, and let your pace be brisk (khabab)." Then he passed away on a Friday. Because of his instruction, I disliked informing the people, but the people came to me and began asking: "When will you bring him out (for burial)?" I said: "When I have finished preparing him (washing and shrouding), I will bring him out." (The narrator says:) Then al-Baqi' became filled with people.
