Four hundred hadith were narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)

Abu Hamzah Imran bin Abi Ata narrates: I was present at the death of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Ta'if. Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah took charge of all his arrangements and said four takbirs in his funeral prayer. Then he lowered him into the grave from the side of his feet, and put up a structure over him for three (days). The hadiths from him that we have memorised number about four hundred.

Shu'bah, the freed slave (mawla) of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrates that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) died in the year 68 AH at Ta'if, when he was 75 years old, and he used to apply yellow dye to his beard.

Shu'bah, the freed slave (mawla) of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: "I was born before the Hijrah, at the time when we were besieged in the Valley (Shi'b) of Abu Talib, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away I was thirteen years old." The narrator says: Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) died in the year 78 AH, when he was 81 years old.

Mujahid narrates that Yazid bin Utbah bin Abi Lahab composed verses mentioning the clouds that watered the grave of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "The sky poured down the rain of its mercy three times; that water flowed over the grave of Ibn Abbas. He used to tell us this, and we knew it with certain knowledge, whether one remembers it or forgets it: that the sky waters the grave with the rain of mercy. By my life! This matter is plain before the people. Had those people possessed an opinion that could protect them in times of calamity, they would have sent Ibn Abbas to you. What an excellent man his father was! Is there anyone like him among the people at the time of dispute and judgement? But they set up against you an old man from Yemen who does not even understand the reckoning of fives and sixes."
