رُوِيَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَرْبَعُمِائَةِ حَدِيثٍ .
Four hundred hadith were narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)

قال إبراهيم بن المنذر: قال ابن واقد وحدثنا خالد بن القاسم (2)، قال: سمعت شُعبة مولى ابن عبّاس يقول: سمعت ابن عبّاس يقول: وُلِدتُ قبلَ الهجرة ونحن في الشِّعْب، فتُوفَّى النبي ﷺ وأنا ابنُ ثلاثَ عشرةَ. قال: وتُوفِّي ابن عبّاس سنةَ ثمانٍ وسبعين وهو ابنُ إحدى وثمانين سنةً.
Shu'bah, the freed slave (mawla) of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: "I was born before the Hijrah, at the time when we were besieged in the Valley (Shi'b) of Abu Talib, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away I was thirteen years old." The narrator says: Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) died in the year 78 AH, when he was 81 years old.

(2) تحرَّف في (ب) إلى: خالد بن الهيثم، وخالد بن الهيثم هذا ذكره ابن سعد في "الطبقات" 8/ 117 وقال: روى عنه محمد بن عمر - يعني الواقدي - أحاديث كثيرة.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscript (B) the name has been distorted into "Khalid bin al-Haytham". Ibn Sa'd stated in "al-Tabaqat" (8/ 117) that al-Waqidi narrated many hadiths from Khalid bin al-Haytham.
قلنا: لكن ابن سعد أخرج هذا الخبر في "طبقاته" (بتحقيق السلمي) 1/ 204 ومن طريقه الخطيب في "تاريخ بغداد" 1/ 523 من رواية الواقدي عن خالد بن القاسم البياضي عن شعبة.
Reference / Source: We say: Ibn Sa'd narrated it in "al-Tabaqat" (1/ 204), and al-Khatib in "Tarikh Baghdad" (1/ 523), through al-Waqidi from Khalid bin al-Qasim al-Bayadi, from Shu'bah.

Important point: For the narrations about Ibn 'Abbas's age at the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), see the beginning (of his biography), at numbers (6404 to 6409).
