أخبرني أبو عبد الله محمد بن علي الصَّنْعاني بمكة، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا مَعمَر، عن الزُّهْري، أخبرني عبد الله بن عامر بن ربيعةَ - وكان أبوه قد شَهِد بدرًا: أن عمر بن الخطاب استَعمل قُدامةَ بن مَظْعُون على البَحرَين، وهو خالُ حفصةَ وعبدِ الله بن عُمر (1).

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah, whose father (Amir bin Rabi'ah) had taken part in Badr: "Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed Qudamah bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) as governor of Bahrain, and he was the maternal uncle of Sayyidah Hafsah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)."
حدثنا أبو عبد الله الأصبَهاني، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن رُستَهْ، حدثنا سليمان أبو أيوب، حدثنا محمد بن عُمر، حدثني قُدامة بن موسى، عن عائشة بنت قُدامة، قالت: توفي قُدامة بن مَظعُون سنةَ ستٍّ وثلاثين، وهو ابن ثَمانٍ وسِتّين سنةً، وكان لا يُغيِّر شَيْبَه (2).
It is narrated from Aishah bint Qudamah that Sayyiduna Qudamah bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) died in the year 36 AH, when he was sixty-eight years old, and he did not change the colour of his white hair with dye.
