Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5720

It is narrated from Aishah bint Qudamah that Sayyiduna Qudamah bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) died in the year 36 AH, when he was sixty-eight years old, and he did not change the colour of his white hair with dye.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: (2) It is in Ibn Sa'd's "al-Tabaqat" 3/ 372 from Muhammad bin 'Umar (al-Waqidi), but he said: "from Qudamah bin Musa, from his father, from 'A'ishah bint Qudamah".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): So he added "Musa", the father of Qudamah. There is no doubt that Ibn Sa'd is more reliable in (narrating from) al-Waqidi than Sulayman Abu Ayyub (Ibn Dawud al-Shadhakuni). This Musa is "Ibn 'Umar bin Qudamah bin Maz'un".
