The death of Abdullah Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him)

Ibrahim bin al-Mundhir states that Abu Abs Abd al-Rahman bin Jabr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in the year thirty-four (34) AH, and at that time he was seventy years old.

Muhammad bin Umar states that Abu Abs bin Jabr and Khunays bin Hudhafah al-Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with them both; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had established brotherhood between them), and Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the Battles of Badr, Uhud, al-Khandaq and all the campaigns with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was also among those who killed (the one who insulted the Messenger) Ka'b bin al-Ashraf.

Muhammad bin Umar states that Abd al-Hamid bin Abi Abs, from the descendants of Abu Abs bin Jabr, told me that Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in the year thirty-four (34) AH, and at that time he was seventy years old. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer, and Abu Burdah bin Niyar, Qatadah bin al-Nu'man, Muhammad bin Maslamah and Salamah bin Salamah bin Waqsh (may Allah be pleased with them) went down into his grave (to lower him).

Maymun bin Zayd bin Abi Abs narrates from his father that Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) used to offer the prayers with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and then return to (his neighbourhood of) Banu Harithah. One dark and rainy night he set out, and light was made for him in his staff, until he reached the quarter of Banu Harithah.
