Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5586

Muhammad bin Umar states that Abu Abs bin Jabr and Khunays bin Hudhafah al-Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with them both; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had established brotherhood between them), and Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the Battles of Badr, Uhud, al-Khandaq and all the campaigns with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was also among those who killed (the one who insulted the Messenger) Ka'b bin al-Ashraf.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscripts (S) and (M) this word is corrupted into "al-Tamimi", and the margin of manuscript (Z) also notes, citing one copy, that it is so there. In our manuscripts this passage is incomplete (with its predicate missing); its likely sense is "akhawayn" (two brothers), as understood from the context of Ibn Sa'd's "Tabaqat" (3/ 365 and 415).

Reference / Source: See "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (3/ 415).
Important point: Sulayman bin Dawud is "al-Shadhakuni".
Details of the narration: The story of Abu 'Abs's participation in the killing of Ka'b bin al-Ashraf will come later at hadith no. (5952) and (5953).
