It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Sayyiduna Dirar bin al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and recited these verses: "I have abandoned the gambling arrows, the music of stringed instruments and wine, and have now taken up prayer and humble supplication. Now my passion is to praise Allah in Umrah and to spend my utmost effort in fighting the polytheists. My wife Jamilah said: You have ruined us and scattered your family, casting them far away. So, O my Lord, do not let me be the loser in this bargain of mine, for I have sold my family and my wealth in exchange (for the Hereafter)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Dirar! This bargain of yours has by no means been a losing one."
