It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came on the day of the Battle of Uhud with his sword, which had become bent (from heavy use). He said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Take this sword; it has proved most praiseworthy, and it has given me satisfaction today (against the enemy)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have struck well with your sword, then certainly Sahl bin Hunayf, Abu Dujanah, Asim bin Thabit bin Abi al-Aqlah and al-Harith bin al-Simmah have also performed excellently."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. And it has an authentic supporting narration (shahid) in al-Maghazi:
