حدَّثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدَّثنا إبراهيم بن مرزوق، حدَّثنا أبو داود، حدَّثنا شُعبة، عن عاصم، عن زرٍّ، عن أبيِّ بن كعب: أنَّ النبي ﷺ قرأ عليه ﴿لَمْ يَكُنِ﴾، وقرأَ فيها: (إِنَّ ذاتَ الدِّينِ عندَ الله الحَنِيفيّةُ لا اليهوديةُ ولا النصرانيةُ ولا المجوسيةُ، ومن يَعمَلْ خيرًا فلن يُكفَرَه) (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah "Lam yakun" to him, and in it he also recited (these words): "Indeed, the true religion with Allah is the Hanifiyyah (the religion of Ibrahim), not Judaism, nor Christianity, nor Magianism; and whoever does good, it will never go unappreciated."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو زكريا العَنبَري، حدَّثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدَّثنا إسحاق، أخبرنا جَرير، عن مُغيرة، قال: سمعتُ الفُضَيل بنَ عمرو يقول لأبي وائل شَقيق بن سَلَمة: أسمعتَ عبدَ الله بنَ مسعود: يقول: مَن قال: إني مؤمنٌ، فليقل: إني في الجنّة؟ فقال: نعم. فقال المغيرة: وقرأ أبو وائل شقيقُ بن سَلَمة: ﴿لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ﴾ حتى بلغ ﴿وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ﴾ إلى قوله: ﴿وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ﴾، قرأها وهو يُعرِّض بالمُرجِئة (2).

It is narrated from Mughirah (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I heard Fudayl bin Amr say to Abu Wa'il Shaqiq bin Salamah: Did you hear Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "Whoever says, 'I am a (certain) believer,' let him (then also claim and) say, 'I am in Paradise'"? He replied: "Yes." Mughirah says: Then Abu Wa'il Shaqiq bin Salamah began reciting "Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book were not" until he reached from "And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, making the religion sincerely His" up to "And that is the upright religion" [Surah al-Bayyinah: 1-5], and he recited it while alluding to and refuting the Murji'ah (a misguided sect).
