حَدَّثَنَا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْح بن عُبَادة، حَدَّثَنَا حمّاد بن سَلَمة، أخبرنا داود بن أبي هند، عن الشَّعْبي، عن أبي جَبِيرة بن الضَّحّاك في هذه الآية: ﴿وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ﴾، قال: كانت الألقابُ في الجاهلية، فدَعَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رجالًا منهم بلَقَبه، فقيل له: يا رسول الله، إنه يَكرهُه، فأنزل الله ﷿: ﴿وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا بِالْأَلْقَابِ﴾ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Jabirah bin al-Dahhak (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this verse, "And do not call one another by (offensive) nicknames" [Surah al-Hujurat: 11], that he said: In the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) nicknames were (customary). So when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called some men among them by their nicknames, it was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah, he dislikes it." So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "And do not call one another by (offensive) nicknames."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

حَدَّثَنَا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن عبد الوهاب الفَرَّاء، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن الحسن المخزومي بالمدينة، حدثتني أمُّ سَلَمة بنت العلاء بن عبد الرحمن بن يعقوب، عن أبيها، عن جدِّها، عن أبي هريرة، أنَّ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قال: "إنَّ الله ﷿ يقول يومَ القيامة: أَمَرتُكم فضيَّعتُم ما عَهِدتُ إليكم فيه، ورفعتُ أنسابَكم، فاليومَ أرفعُ نَسَبي وأضَعُ أنسابَكم؛ أين المتَّقونَ؟ أين المتَّقونَ؟ إِنَّ أكرمَكُم عند الله أتقاكُم" (1).
هذا حديثٌ عالٍ غريبُ الإسناد والمتن، ولم يُخرجاه. وله شاهدٌ من حديث طَلْحة بن عمرو عن عطاء بن أبي رَبَاح عن أبي هريرة:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say on the Day of Resurrection: I commanded you, but you neglected the covenant I made with you concerning it, and you exalted your lineages. So today I will exalt My lineage (that is, taqwa) and lower your lineages. Where are the pious? Where are the God-fearing? Indeed, the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing of you."
This hadith is high (in its chain) and strange (gharib) in both its chain and its text, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

حدَّثَناه أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله بن أحمد الحَفيد، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن نَصْر، حَدَّثَنَا أبو غسّان النَّهْدي، حَدَّثَنَا طلحة بن عمرو، عن عطاء بن أبي رَبَاح، عن أبي هريرة أنه تلا قولَ الله ﷿: ﴿إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ﴾، فقال: إِنَّ الله يقول يوم القيامة: يا أيها الناسُ، إني جعلتُ نَسَبًا وجعلتُم نَسَبًا، فجعلتُ أكرمَكُم أتقاكُم، وأَبَيْتُم إلَّا أن تقولوا: فلانُ بنُ فلان أكرمُ من فلانِ بن فلان، وإِنِّي اليومَ أَرفَعُ نَسَبي وأضَعُ أنْسابَكم، أين المتَّقونَ؟ قال طلحةُ: فقال لي عطاء: يا طلحةُ، ما أكثرَ الأسماءَ يومَ القيامةِ على اسمي واسمك، فإذا دُعِيَ فلا يقومُ إِلَّا من عُنِيَ (2). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, "Indeed, the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing of you" [Surah al-Hujurat: 13], and said that Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection: "O people, I established a lineage (taqwa) and you established a lineage (family pride). I made the most honoured of you the most God-fearing of you, but you refused everything except saying: So-and-so son of so-and-so is more honoured than so-and-so son of so-and-so. So today I will exalt My lineage (taqwa) and lower your lineages. Where are the God-fearing?" Talhah said: Ata' said to me: "O Talhah, how many people there will be on the Day of Resurrection with names like mine and yours! But when a name is called, none will stand except the one who is intended."
