التَّقَرُّبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ بِكَلَامِ اللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ
Nothing draws one closer to Allah more dearly to Him than His own speech

أخبرني محمد بن المؤمَّل بن الحسن بن عيسى، حدثنا الفضل بن محمد الشَّعْراني، حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثني معاوية بن صالح، عن العَلاء بن الحارث، عن زيد بن أَرْطاةَ، عن جُبير بن نُفير، عن عُقْبة بن عامر الجُهَنِي: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ تلا: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِالذِّكْرِ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُ لَكِتَابٌ عَزِيزٌ (41) لَا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ﴾ [فصلت: 41، 42]، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "إنَّكم لن تَرجِعوا إلى الله بشيءٍ أحبَّ إليه من شيءٍ خَرَجَ منه"؛ يعني: القرآنَ (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these verses: "Indeed, those who disbelieved in the Reminder (the Qur'an) when it came to them - and indeed it is a mighty Book; falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; it is a revelation from One who is All-Wise, Praiseworthy (Allah)." [Surah Fussilat: 41, 42] Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will not return to Allah with anything more beloved to Him than something that came out from Him," meaning the Noble Qur'an. (That is, nothing is more beloved and more excellent in the sight of Allah Almighty than the Qur'an, because it was revealed from Allah.)

أخبرنا أبو زكريا العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، أخبرنا جَرير، عن منصور، عن هلال بن يِسَاف، عن فَرْوة بن نَوفَل الأشجَعي، قال: كنت جارًا لخبَّاب بن الأرَتِّ، فخرجنا مرّةً من المسجد فأَخذ بيدي فقال: يا هَنَاهُ، تَقرَّبْ إلى الله بما استطعتَ، فإنك لن تَقرَّبَ إليه بشيءٍ أحبَّ إليه من كلامِه (1).

It is narrated from Farwah bin Nawfal al-Ashja'i that he said: I was a neighbour of Sayyiduna Khabbab bin al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him). Once we came out of the mosque and he took hold of my hand and said: O my friend! Draw near to Allah as much as you can, for you cannot draw near to Him through anything more beloved to Him than His Speech (the Qur'an).
