حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا حجَّاج بن محمد، عن ابن جُرَيج، أخبرني أبو الزُّبَير، أنه جابرًا يقول: كانت مُسَيكةُ لبعض الأنصار، فقالت: إنَّ سيِّدي يُكرِهُني على البِغاءِ، فنزلت: ﴿وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا﴾ [النور: 33] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Musaykah (a slave girl) belonged to a man of the Ansar. She complained (to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)): "My master forces me into prostitution," and then this verse was revealed: "And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution if they desire chastity" [Surah al-Nur: 33].
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا حامد بن أبي حامد المقرئ، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله الدَّشتَكي، حدثنا عمرو بن أبي قيس، عن عطاء، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس في قول الله ﷿: ﴿اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ مَثَلُ نُورِهِ﴾ [النور: 35] يقول: مثلُ نورِ مَن آمَنَ بالله ﴿كَمِشْكَاةٍ﴾ قال: وهي القُتْرة؛ يعني الكَوَّة (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth; the example of His light" [Surah al-Nur: 35], that he said: (It means) the example of the light of the one who believes in Allah. And concerning "is like a niche" he said that it refers to the recess or opening in which a lamp is placed.
