أخبرني الحسن بن حَليم المروَزي، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرنا سعيد بن يزيد أبو شُجَاع، عن أبي السَّمْح، عن أبي الهيثم، عن أبي سعيد الخُدْري، عن رسول الله ﷺ: ﴿تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ النَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَالِحُونَ﴾ [المؤمنون: 104] قال: "تَشْويهِ النارُ فَتَقلِصُ شَفَتُه العُليا حتى تَبْلُغَ وَسَطَ رأسه، وتَستَرخي شَفَتُه السُّفلى حتى تضربَ سُرَّتَه" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning this statement of Allah Almighty: "The Fire will scorch their faces, and they will be therein with lips distorted" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 104]: "The Fire will scorch them so severely that the upper lip will shrink until it reaches the middle of the head, and the lower lip will hang down until it touches the navel."
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

أخبرني محمد بن إسحاق الصَّفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن نصر، حدثنا عَمْرو بن طلحة، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي الأحوَص، عن عبد الله بن مسعود في قول الله ﷿: ﴿وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَالِحُونَ﴾ [المؤمنون: 104]، قال: ككُلوحِ الرأس النَّضِيج (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this statement of Allah Almighty: "And they will be therein with lips distorted" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 104], that he said: (Their state) will be like a roasted head whose lips have shrunk back so that the teeth are exposed.

حدثنا الحسن بن يعقوب العَدْل، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي طالب، حدثنا عبد الوهاب بن عطاء، أخبرنا سعيد بن أبي عَرُوبة، عن قَتَادة، عن أبي أيوب، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص قال: إنَّ أهل النار يَدْعُون مالكًا فلا يجيبُهم أربعين يومًا، ثم يردُّ عليهم: ﴿إِنَّكُمْ مَاكِثُونَ﴾ [الزخرف: 77]، قال: هانت دعوتُهم واللهِ على مالكٍ وربِّ مالك، قالوا: ﴿رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَالِّينَ﴾ [المؤمنون: 106]، قال: ﴿اخْسَئُوا فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ﴾ [المؤمنون: 108] (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the people of Hell will call out to Malik (the keeper of Hell), and he will not answer them for forty days. Then he will reply to them: "Indeed, you will remain" [Surah al-Zukhruf: 77]. He said: By Allah, their call will have no worth in the sight of Malik and the Lord of Malik. Then they will say: "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 106]. Then Allah will say: "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 108].
