أخبرنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن أحمد المحبُوبي، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن إبراهيم بن مُهاجِر، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: أيَّ القراءتين تَرَونَ كان آخرَ القراءة؟ قالوا: قراءةُ زيد، قال: لا، إنَّ رسول الله ﷺ كان يَعرِضُ القرآنَ كلَّ سَنةٍ على جبريل ﵇، فلما كانت السنةُ التي قُبِضَ فيها عَرَضَه عليه عَرْضَتين، فكانت قراءةُ ابنِ مسعود آخرَهنَّ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه بهذه السِّيَاقة، وفائدة الحديث ذِكرُ عبد الله بن مسعود.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he asked: In your view, which was the last recitation (in the course of the revelation of the Qur'an)? The people said: The recitation of Zayd bin Thabit. He said: No! Rather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to review the Qur'an with (present it to) Jibril (peace be upon him) every year, and in the year in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed it twice. So the recitation of Abdullah bin Mas'ud was the very last recitation.
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with this wording, and the scholarly benefit of this hadith is the special mention of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

أخبرنا جعفر بن محمد بن نُصَير الخُلْدي، حدثنا علي بن عبد العزيز البَغَوي بمكة، حدثنا حَجَّاج بن المِنهال، قال: حدثنا حمَّاد بن سَلَمة، عن قَتَادة، عن الحسن، عن سَمُرة قال: عُرِضَ القرآنُ على رسول الله ﷺ عَرَضاتٍ. فيقولون: إنَّ قراءتنا هذه هي العَرْضةُ الأخيرة (1).

مِنْ كِتَابِ قِرَاءَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِمَّا لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَقَدْ صَحَّ سَنَدُهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Qur'an was presented (reviewed) before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) several times; and the people say that this present recitation of ours is in accordance with the final presentation (al-ardah al-akhirah).
Part of this hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and part on the condition of Imam Muslim, but they did not record it; it is among the hadiths about the recitations of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which the two Shaykhs did not mention despite their chains being authentic.
