أخبرني أبو القاسم عبد الرحمن بن الحَسَن القاضي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن الحسين، حدثنا عفّان بن مسلم، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن عاصم بن سليمان وعلي بن زيد (2)، عن أبي عثمان النَّهْدي، عن سلمان، قال: كاتبتُ أهلي على أن أغرِسَ لهم خمسَ مئة فَسِيلةٍ، فإذا عَلِقَتْ فأنا حُرٌّ، فأتيتُ النبي ﷺ فذكرتُ ذلك له، فقال: "اغرِسْ، واشترِط لهم، فإذا أردتَ أن تَغرِسَ فآذِنِّي"، فجاء فجعل يَغرِس، إلّا واحدةً غَرَستُها بيدي، فعَلِقَت جميعًا إلّا الواحدةَ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح من حديث عاصم بن سليمان الأحول على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I made a contract of manumission (mukatabah) with my owners on the condition that I would plant five hundred date-palm saplings for them, and when they took root I would be free. I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Plant them and make the condition with them (about their success), and when you intend to plant them, inform me." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) came and began planting them. Except for one sapling which I had planted with my own hand, all of them turned green (took root), except that one sapling.
This hadith of Asim bin Sulayman al-Ahwal is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Hadith 2899

أخبرنا ميمون بن إسحاق الهاشمي ببغداد، حدثنا العباس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم الكِلابي، حدثنا همَّام، عن عباس الجُريري، حدثنا عمرو بن شعيب، عن أبيه، عن جده، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "أيُّما مُكاتَبٍ كُوتِبَ على ألف أُوقيّة فأدّاها إلّا عشرَ أَواقٍ، فهو عبدٌ، وأيُّما مُكاتَبٍ كُوتِب على مئة دينارٍ فأدّاها إلّا عشرةَ دنانير، فهو عبدٌ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any mukatab slave whose contract was made for one thousand uqiyah and who paid all of it except ten uqiyah, he is (still) a slave; and any mukatab whose contract was made for one hundred dinars and who paid all of it except ten dinars, he is (also) a slave."
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith 2900

حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد بن سلْمان بن الحسن الفقيه إملاءً ببغداد، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكرَم البَزّاز، حدثنا عثمان بن عمر، حدثنا علي بن المُبارك، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن عِكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال: قضَى رسولُ الله ﷺ في المكاتَب أن يُقتَلَ بدِيَةِ الحُرّ على قَدْر ما أَدَّى منه (1). قال يحيى: قال عِكْرمة عن ابن عباس: يُقام عليه حدُّ المَملُوك (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled concerning the mukatab slave that (blood money) is to be paid for him according to the blood money of a free man, in proportion to what he has paid (of his contract price). Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the prescribed punishment (hadd) of a slave is to be carried out on (such a person).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
