It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no deed that brings you closer to Paradise except that I have commanded you to do it, and there is no deed that brings you closer to Hell except that I have forbidden you from it. So let none of you feel that his provision is coming late, for Jibril (peace be upon him) has cast into my heart that none of you will depart from this world until he has received his provision in full. So, O people, fear Allah and adopt moderation and a fine manner in seeking provision. And if anyone feels that his provision is coming late, let him never seek it through disobedience to Allah, for the bounty of Allah cannot be attained through disobeying Him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let no one envy a person who gathers wealth by unlawful means, for if he gives it in charity it will not be accepted from him, and whatever remains with him will be his provision for the journey to Hell."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.
