مَنْ كُسِرَ أَوْ عُرِجَ فَقَدْ حَلَّ وَعَلَيْهِ الْحَجُّ فِي قَابِلٍ
Whoever suffers a fracture or becomes lame is released (from ihram) and must perform Hajj the following year

حدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا إسماعيل بن قُتيبة، حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى، أخبرنا مروان بن معاوية الفَزَاري، حدثنا الحجّاج بن أبي عثمان الصوّاف، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن عِكرِمةَ قال: حدّثني الحجّاج بنُ عمرو الأنصاريُّ قال: قال رسولُ الله ﷺ: "مَن كُسِرَ أو عَرَجَ فقد حَلَّ، وعليه الحجُّ من قابلٍ". قال عكرمة: فسألتُ أبا هريرةَ وابنَ عباسٍ، فقالا: صَدَق (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Hajjaj bin Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever suffers a broken bone or becomes lame has become free (he may leave the state of ihram), and he must perform Hajj again the following year." Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) about this, and they said that al-Hajjaj bin Amr had spoken the truth.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو بكر بن أبي دارِم الحافظ بالكوفة، حدثنا محمد بن عثمان بن محمد العَبْسي، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا زيد بن الحُبَاب، حدثنا سفيان الثَّوري، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن جابرٍ قال: حَجَّ النبيُّ ﷺ حَجَّتينِ قبلَ أن يُهاجِر - يعني - وحَجَّ بعدما هاجَرَ حَجَّةً قَرَنَ معها عُمرةً (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two Hajjs before the Hijrah, and after the Hijrah he performed one Hajj, in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) combined Umrah with the Hajj (that is, he performed Hajj al-Qiran).

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب الأُمَويُّ وعليُّ بن عبد الله الحَكِيمي ببغداد، قالا: حدثنا العباس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدثنا رَوح بن عُبادة، حدثنا محمد بن أبي حَفْصة، عن ابن شِهاب، عن أبي سِنان، عن ابن عباس: أنَّ الأقرع بن حابس سألَ رسول الله ﷺ: الحجُّ كلَّ عام؟ قال: "لا بل حَجَّةٌ واحدةٌ، ولو قلتُ: نَعَم، لَوَجَبَتْ، ولو وَجَبَتْ، لم تَسمَعوا ولم تُطيعوا (1) " (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna al-Aqra' bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Is Hajj obligatory every year? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather it is only once in a lifetime. Had I said yes, it would have become obligatory every year, and had that happened, you would neither have listened to it nor been able to obey it."
