حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا سعيد بن عامر، حدثنا شُعبة، عن عبد العزيز بن صهيب، عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "مَن وَجَدَ تمرًا فليُفطِرْ عليه، ومن لا فليُفطِرْ على الماء، فإنه طَهور" (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has dates should break his fast with them, and whoever does not find any should break his fast with water, for water is a means of purification."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

أخبرني إبراهيم بن إسماعيل القارئ، حدثنا عثمان بن سعيد الدَّارمي، حدثنا قيس بن حفص الدَّارمي، حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد، عن عاصم الأحول، عن حَفْصة بنت سِيرين، عن الرَّباب، عن عمِّها سلمان بن عامر قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إذا كان أحدُكم صائمًا فليُفطِرْ على التَّمر، فإن لم يَجِدِ التمرَ فعلى الماءِ، فإنَّ الماء طَهور" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you is fasting, he should break his fast with dates; and if he does not find dates, then with water, for water is a means of purification."

أخبرَناه أحمد بن جعفر القَطِيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، حدثنا جعفر بن سليمان، أخبرني ثابت البُنَاني، أنه سمع أنس بن مالك يقول: كان رسولُ الله ﷺ يُفطِرُ على رُطَباتٍ قبل أن يصلِّي، فإن لم يكن رُطَباتٌ فعلى تَمَراتٍ، فإن لم يكن تَمَراتٌ حَسَا حَسَواتٍ من ماء (1).
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to break his fast with a few fresh dates before performing the (Maghrib) prayer; if they were not available, then with dry dates; and if those were not available either, he would take a few sips of water.
