Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1593

حدثنا أبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن محمد بن يحيى، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الإمام، حدثنا زكريا بن يحيى بن أبَان، حدثنا محمد بن عبد العزيز الواسطي، حدثنا شعيب بن إسحاق، حدثنا سعيد بن أبي عَرُوبة، عن قتادة، عن أنس بن مالك: أنَّ النبيَّ ﷺ كان لا يُصلِّي المغرب حتى يُفطِرَ ولو على شَرْبةٍ من ماء (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not perform the Maghrib prayer until he had broken his fast, even if it were only with a sip of water.

Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is hasan for corroborating chains and supporting reports on account of Muhammad bin 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Wasiti, and he is corroborated.
محمد بن إسحاق الإمام: هو ابن خزيمة. والحديث في "صحيحه" برقم (2063).
Criticism of a narrator: Muhammad bin Ishaq refers to Imam Ibn Khuzaymah.

وأخرجه الطبراني في "الأوسط" (8793)، وابن الأعرابي في "معجمه" (2233)، والبيهقي في "السنن" 4/ 239 من طرق عن محمد بن عبد العزيز الرملي الواسطي، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani (al-Awsat 8793), Ibn al-A'rabi (Mu'jam 2233) and al-Bayhaqi (al-Sunan 4/ 239) narrated it through various routes from Muhammad bin 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Ramli al-Wasiti.
وأخرجه ابن خزيمة (2063)، والبزار (7127)، والعقيلي في "الضعفاء" (1470)، والبيهقي في "الشعب" (3616) من طريق القاسم بن غصن، عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة، به. والقاسم ضعيف لكن يعتبر به في المتابعات والشواهد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Khuzaymah (2063), al-Bazzar (7127), al-'Uqayli (al-Du'afa' 1470) and al-Bayhaqi (al-Shu'ab 3616) narrated it through the route of al-Qasim bin Ghusn from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah.
Criticism of a narrator: Al-Qasim is da'if, but he is taken into account in corroborating chains.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (3504) و (3505) من طريق ابن أبي شيبة، عن حسين بن علي الجعفي، عن زائدة بن قدامة، عن حميد بن أبي حميد الطويل، عن أنس قال: ما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ قط صلى المغرب حتى يفطر ولو على شربة ماء. وهذا إسناد صحيح.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (3504, 3505) narrated it through the chain of Ibn Abi Shaybah from Husayn bin 'Ali al-Ju'fi from Za'idah bin Qudamah, from Humayd al-Tawil from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray Maghrib without first breaking his fast, even if only with a sip of water."
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
