أخبرنا أبو الفضل محمد بن إبراهيم المزكِّي، حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن الحسين (3)، حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى، أخبرنا أبو معاوية، حدثنا عاصم بن سليمان، عن حَفْصة بنت سِيرين، عن أُم عَطيَّة قالت: لما نزلَتْ: ﴿إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ﴾ إلى قوله: ﴿وَلَا يَعْصِينَكَ﴾ [الممتحنة: 12]، كانت منه النِّياحةُ، فقلت: يا رسول الله، إلّا آلَ فلان، فإنهم كانوا أسعَدُوني في الجاهلية، فلا بدَّ لي من أن أُسعِدَهم، فقال: "إلّا آلَ فلان" (1).

Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) states that when this verse was revealed: "When the believing women come to you to pledge allegiance" [Surah al-Mumtahanah: 12] up to these words of Allah: "and that they will not disobey you", refraining from wailing was among the terms of this pledge. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Except for the family of so-and-so (grant me permission), for they supported me (by weeping in my grief) in the time of Jahiliyyah, so I must repay them in kind. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Except for the family of so-and-so (that is, you are permitted to go to them)."

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا سعيد بن عثمان التَّنُوخي، حدثنا بِشْر بن بكر، عن الأوزاعي، حدثني إسماعيل بن عبيد الله، قال: حدثتني كَرِيمةُ المُزَنيَّة، قالت: سمعتُ أبا هريرة وهو في بيت أُم الدَّرداء يقول: قال رسولُ الله ﷺ: "ثلاثةٌ من الكفر بالله: شَقُّ الجَيب، والنِّياحةُ، والطَّعْنُ فِي النَّسَب" (1). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Three things are among (the deeds of) disbelief in Allah: tearing the collar (of one's garment), wailing over the dead, and slandering someone's lineage."
