أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفَّار، حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي الدُّنيا، حدثنا أحمد بن عِمْران الأخْنَسي، حدثنا يحيى بن يَمَان، عن سفيان، عن علقمة بن مَرْثَد، عن سليمان بن بُرَيدة، عن أبيه قال: زار النبيُّ ﷺ قبرَ أُمِّه في ألفِ مُقنَّعٍ، فلم يُرَ باكيًا أكثرَ من يومِئذٍ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited his mother's grave amid a thousand veiled horsemen, and no one was ever seen weeping more than on that day.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمدُ بنُ يعقوب الحافظ وأبو الفَضْل الحسن بن عقوب العَدْل، قالا: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الوهاب الفَرَّاء، أخبرنا يعلى بن عُبَيد، حدثنا أبو مُنَيْن يَزيدُ بن كَيْسان، عن أبي حازم، عن أبي هريرةَ، قال: زارَ رسولُ الله ﷺ قبر أُمِّه فبكى وأَبكَى مَن حولَه، ثم قال: "استأذنتُ ربِّي أن أَزورَ قبرَها فأذِنَ لي، واستأذنتُه أن أستغفِرَ لها فلم يُؤذَن لي، فزُورُوا القبورَ فإنها تُذكِّر الموت" (1). وهذا الحديث صحيحٌ على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited his mother's grave, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) wept and made those around him weep too. Then he said: "I asked my Lord for permission to visit her grave, and He gave me permission; and I asked permission to pray for forgiveness for her, but I was not given permission. So visit the graves, for they remind of death."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but they did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو سعيد أحمد بن يعقوب الثَّقَفي، حدثنا أبو شُعيب عبد الله بن الحسن الحَرَّاني، حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد النُّفَيلي، حدثنا زهير، حدثنا زُبَيد، عن مُحارِب بن دِثَار، عن ابن بُريدةَ، عن أبيه قال: كنَّا مع رسول الله ﷺ قريبًا من ألفِ راكبٍ، فنزل بنا فصلَّى بنا ركعتين، ثم أقبَلَ علينا بوَجهِه وعيناه تَذْرِفان، فقام إليه عمر ففدَّاه بالأم والأب يقول: ما لك يا رسول الله؟ قال: "إنِّي استأذنتُ ربِّي ﷿ في الاستغفار لأُمِّي، فلم يأذَنْ لي، فدَمَعَ عينايَ رحمةً لها، واستأذنتُ ربِّي في زيارتها فأَذِنَ لي، وإنِّي كنتُ قد نَهيتُكم عن زيارةِ القبور فزُورُوها، ولْيزِدْكُم زيارتُها خيرًا" (1). و
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the company of about a thousand riders. He (peace and blessings be upon him) halted with us and led us in two rak'ahs of prayer. Then he turned his radiant face towards us, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had tears flowing from his eyes. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went forward to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and, offering his mother and father as ransom for him (peace and blessings be upon him), said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the matter with you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, for permission to seek forgiveness for my mother, but He did not give me permission, so my eyes filled with tears out of love for her. And I asked Him for permission to visit her, and He gave me permission. And I had forbidden you from visiting graves; now visit them, and let your visiting them be a means of increasing you in good."

حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد (2) بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا أبو المثنَّى معاذُ بن المثنَّى، حدثنا محمد بن مِنْهالٍ الضَّرير، حدثنا يزيد بن زُرَيع، حدثنا بِسْطام بن مُسلِم، عن أبي التَّيَّاح يزيد بن حُمَيد، عن عبد الله بن أبي مُلَيكةَ: أنَّ عائشةَ أقبلَتْ ذات يومٍ من المقابر، فقلتُ لها: يا أُمَّ المؤمنين، من أين أقبلتِ؟ قالت: مِن قبرِ أخي عبدِ الرحمن بن أبي بكر، فقلتُ لها: أليس كان رسولُ الله ﷺ نَهَى عن زيارة القبور؟ قالت: نعم، كان نَهَى ثم أمَر بزيارتها (1).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Mulaykah narrates that one day Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was coming from the direction of the graveyard. I said to her: O Mother of the Believers, where are you coming from? She said: From the grave of my brother Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr. I said: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not forbid visiting graves? She said: Yes, he (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden it, but later he commanded that they be visited.

حدثنا أبو عليٍّ الحسين بن عليٍّ الحافظ، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ الأَهوازيُّ، حدثنا بِشْر بن معاذ العَقَدي، حدثنا عامر بن يِسَاف، حدثنا إبراهيم بن طَهْمان، عن يحيى بن عبَّاد، عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "كنتُ نَهيتُكم عن زيارةِ القبور، ألا فزُورُوها، فإنه يُرِقُّ القلبَ، ويُدمِعُ العينَ، ويُذكِّر الآخرة، ولا تقولوا هُجْرًا" (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I had forbidden you from visiting graves. Listen! Now visit them, for it softens the heart, brings tears to the eyes and reminds of the Hereafter; and do not say idle or indecent words (there)."

أخبرَناه أحمد بن عثمان بن يحيى المُقرئ ببغداد، حدثنا سعيد بن عثمان الأهوازي، حدثنا الرَّبيع بن يحيى، حدثنا عبد العزيز بن مسلم، حدثني يحيى بن عبد الله (1) التَّيمي، عن عمرو بن عامر الأنصاري، عن أنس بن مالكٍ قال: قال رسولُ الله ﷺ: "إنِّي كنتُ نَهيتُكم عن زيارة القُبور، فمن شاءَ أن يَزور قبرًا فَلْيَزُرْه، فإنه يُرِقُ القلبَ، ويُدمِعُ العينَ، ويُذكِّر الآخرة" (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I had forbidden you from visiting graves; now whoever wishes to visit a grave, let him visit it, for it makes the heart tender (soft), makes the eye shed tears and reminds of the Hereafter."
