Sometimes he bathed before sleeping and sometimes he slept before bathing

Abdullah bin Abi Qays narrates: I asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do when in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity)? Did he (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the ritual bath (ghusl) before sleeping, or would he sleep before performing the ritual bath? She said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do both: sometimes he would perform the ritual bath and then sleep, and sometimes he would perform ablution and then sleep." I said: "All praise is for Allah, who has made room for ease in this matter."
Imam Muslim recorded it in his Sahih from Qutaybah, but did not mention all of its supporting narrations and their wordings.

Ghudayf bin al-Harith narrates: I asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the ritual bath (ghusl) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for janabah (major ritual impurity). She said: "Sometimes he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the ritual bath before sleeping, and sometimes he would sleep before performing the ritual bath."

Ghudayf bin al-Harith narrates: I said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), would he perform the ritual bath (ghusl) at the beginning (of the night) or at the end?" She said: "Sometimes he would perform the ritual bath at the beginning, and sometimes he would perform it at the end." I said (joyfully): "Allahu Akbar! All praise is for Allah, who has made room for ease in this matter."
