Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first thing for which a servant will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection is his prayer. If he completed it, it will be recorded for him as complete. If he did not complete it, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will say to His angels: 'Do you find any voluntary prayers for My servant with which you can make up what he neglected of his obligatory prayer?' Then zakah will be dealt with likewise, and then all the other deeds in the same manner."
Some of the companions of Hammad bin Salamah narrated it in abridged form, and Musa bin Isma'il is the authority on his hadith.

Grading: (2) God willing, its chain is sahih. Variation in the chain: There is disagreement over whether Zurarah bin Awfa heard from Tamim al-Dari. Imam Ahmad denied it, since Tamim was in Syria and Zurarah was from Basra, but Abu Ahmad al-Hakim held that he did hear from him. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (866) narrated it via Musa bin Isma'il, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (28/16951, 16954) and Ibn Majah (1426) narrated it via routes from Hammad bin Salamah.
