حدثنا أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكرَم، حدثنا عثمان بن عمر، حدثنا أبو عامر الخَزَّاز [عن عبد الرحمن بن قيس] (2) عن يوسف بن ماهَكَ، عن أبي هريرة، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "إذا صلَّى أحدُكم فلا يَضَعْ نَعلَيهِ عن يمينِه وعن يسارِه، إلَّا أن لا يكون عن يسارِه أحدٌ، وليَضَعْهما بين رِجلَيهِ" (3). صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you prays, let him not put his sandals on his right or on his left, unless there is no other worshipper on his left; otherwise let him put them between his feet."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) ما بين المعقوفين لم يرد في النسخ الخطية، وقد خرَّج البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 2/ 432 بإسنادين أحدهما عن المصنف من هذا الطريق، وهو ثابت في الإسناد عنده ولم يشر إلى سقوطه من إسناد الحاكم كما أنَّ الحافظ ابن حجر في "إتحاف المهرة" (20278) عندما عزاه إلى الحاكم لم يشر إلى سقوطه من الإسناد، وعبد الرحمن بن قيس هذا ثابت في الإسناد عند كل من خرَّج هذا الحديث من هذا الوجه، ولذلك استدركناه هنا بين معقوفين، والله تعالى أعلم.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) The bracketed portion was not in the manuscripts, but al-Bayhaqi (2/432) narrated it through the chain of the author (al-Hakim), in which it is present. Ibn Hajar too, in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (20278), did not mention its omission when citing al-Hakim. So the name of Abd al-Rahman bin Qays is established in the chain, and therefore we have added it in brackets.
(3) إسناده حسن من أجل أبي عامر الخزاز: وهو صالح بن رستم.
Grading: (3) The chain is "hasan" because of Abu Amir al-Khazzaz (Salih bin Rustam).
وأخرجه أبو داود (654)، وابن حبان (2188) من طريقين عن عثمان بن عمر، بهذا الإسناد. وانظر (965).
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (654) and Ibn Hibban (2188) narrated it through two routes from Uthman bin Umar. See also number (965).
