It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the people talked a great deal about Musaylimah the Liar before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had stated his own view about him, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and praised Allah as befits His majesty, then said: "To proceed: you have said many things about this man. He is indeed one of thirty liars who will emerge before the Dajjal. And there will be no city into which the dread of the Messiah (the Dajjal) does not enter, except Madinah; on that day there will be two angels at each of its entrances, repelling the dread of the Messiah from it."

Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: Manuscripts (Z) and (K) have "naqbanuha", whereas we have established the text from manuscripts (M) and (B).
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and this chain admits the possibility of being graded "hasan" on account of 'Iyad bin Musafi'. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Because one trustworthy Successor alone narrates from him, namely "Talhah bin 'Abd Allah" (the judge of Madinah), and no one other than Ibn Hibban declared 'Iyad trustworthy, and no hadith of 'Iyad other than this one is known; however, he is corroborated in this hadith. Reference / Source: Ibn Shabbah narrated it in "Tarikh al-Madinah" (2/576), al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (2952) and Ibn Hibban (6652) by several routes from 'Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in (34/20465) by way of the nephew of Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri from his paternal uncle (al-Zuhri). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The second part of this hadith, on the terror of al-Masih al-Dajjal, will come later under no. (8841) by another "sahih" route from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: As for the first part, it is supported (as a shahid) by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah which is narrated as marfu' in al-Bukhari (3609 and 7121) and Muslim (2923/84) with the wording: "The Hour will not be established until nearly thirty lying dajjals are sent forth, each of them claiming that he is the Messenger of Allah". (1379). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And the second part is supported by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (al-Bukhari: 1880, Muslim: 1379). (2943). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Also the hadith of Anas bin Malik (al-Bukhari: 1881, Muslim: 2943) is a shahid for it. (1374). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Muslim: 1374) also supports it. (8842) Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Also the hadith of Abu Hurayrah and Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with them both), which comes later with the author (al-Hakim) under no. (8842).
