It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! The incantations with which we seek healing and the medicines with which we treat ourselves, can they avert anything of the decree of Allah?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They too are part of the decree of Allah."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (hasan due to supporting reports). Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is da'if because of the weakness of Salih bin Abi al-Akhdar and the disagreement in it. Note / Clarification: Abu Qilabah in the chain is "Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad al-Raqashi". Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani (3090) and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (1890) narrated it by way of Abu Muslim al-Kashshi, from Ibrahim bin Humayd (who is al-Tawil), with this chain. (8427). Important point: This narration will come again later at numbers (7619) and (8427).
