Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8792

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Jabir bin Atik that he said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to us in Banu Mu'awiyah (which is one of the villages of the Ansar) and asked: Do you know where in this mosque of yours the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed? I said: Yes; and I pointed to a corner of it. Then he asked: Do you know what the three supplications were that he (peace and blessings be upon him) made here? I said: Yes. He said: Tell me about them. I said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated that no enemy from other than themselves (an alien people) should overpower them, and that they should not be destroyed by famine, and both these supplications were accepted. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated that there should be no fighting among themselves (civil war), and that was withheld.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Textual and chain verification: In the manuscripts of the "Mustadrak" it is written like this, "'Amr" (with a waw), whereas everyone who narrated it from Malik made it the hadith of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar bin al-Khattab, and that is the preserved (mahfuz) version. 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah bin Jabir is known to narrate only from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar.

Grading: Its chain is sahih, and it is in "Muwatta' Malik" in the transmission of Yahya al-Laythi (1/216).
Reference: Ahmad (39/23749) recorded it from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi, from Malik, from 'Abdullah bin Jabir bin 'Atik, from Jabir bin 'Atik, that he said: "'Abdullah bin 'Umar came to us …" and he mentioned it.
Technical note: See there (in the verified edition of Ahmad's Musnad) the full discussion of the disagreement over it on Malik.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the preceding hadith of Abu Hurayrah at number (8789) and other hadiths.
