Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8763

It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many trials have been sent down tonight?! And how many treasures have been opened?! Wake the women of the chambers," meaning his pure wives.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Textual verification: In "Talkhis al-Dhahabi" there is this addition after it: "fa-rubba kasiyatin fi al-dunya 'ariyatun yawm al-qiyamah" (many a woman clothed in this world will be naked on the Day of Resurrection). This addition is not in our manuscripts of the "Mustadrak", but these words are established in the hadith in the takhrij sources.

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Sufyan is Ibn 'Uyaynah, and Yahya bin Sa'id is al-Ansari.
Technical note: This hadith is in "Musnad al-Humaydi" (294) from the narration of Abu 'Ali bin al-Sawwaf through Bishr bin Musa, but in it Sufyan's narration from 'Amr and Yahya is munqati' (broken) in the chain because "Hind bint al-Harith" has dropped out. It is likewise (broken) in Ibn 'Abd al-Barr's "al-Tamhid" (23/448-449) from the narration of Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Sulami al-Tirmidhi, and in Ibn Hibban's "Sahih" (691) in the narration of Muhammad bin Abi 'Umar al-'Adani from Sufyan.
Reference: Al-Bukhari (115) narrated it from Sadaqah bin al-Fadl, from Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, with this same chain (with the mention of Hind, like the author).
Important point: So al-Hakim's including it as an addition (istidrak) is an oversight on his part.
Further references: Ahmad (44/26545), al-Bukhari (1126, 5844) and al-Tirmidhi (2196) narrated it by several routes from Ma'mar in the same way. Also, al-Bukhari (3599, 6218, 7069) narrated it by the route of Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah, and (7069) by the route of Muhammad bin Abi 'Atiq; both of them from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, from Hind bint al-Harith, in the same way.
