Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8735

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about him: "This boy will live a century (qarnan)." The narrator says: And so he lived for a hundred years. He had a wart on his face, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He will not die until this wart has gone from his face." And so he did not die until that wart had gone from his face.

Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z) and (K) "Shurayh bin Burr" is written, which is wrong; in manuscripts (M) and (B) there is only "Shurayh", whereas the correct form is what we have established in the text, as in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (6949).

Grading: Because of Ibrahim bin Muhammad al-Alhani, its chain is "hasan"; more than one narrator has narrated from him, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat".
Technical note: He has been corroborated on the story of the horn (qarn) (as in the previous hadith), but he is alone in the story of the wart (thu'lul).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bukhari in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (1/323) as ta'liq (without a full chain); al-Harith bin Abi Usamah in his "Musnad" (1032 - Bughyat al-Bahith); Abu Bakr al-Khallal in "al-Sunnah" (775); al-Tabarani in "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (836); Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (4020); al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (6/503); Ibn 'Asakir in his "Tarikh" (27/155); and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" (9/72), by the route of Dawud bin Rushayd, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: Its first part has already passed at no. (4060) by the route of al-Waqidi, from Shurayh bin Yazid.
