Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8736

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both); Wahb bin Jabir says: I was with him when a steward came to him from Syria, with two days of Ramadan remaining. Sayyiduna Abdullah asked him: Have you left with my family enough to suffice them? He said: I have left some provision for them. Sayyiduna Abdullah said: I firmly command you to go back and leave with them enough to suffice them, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "It is sin enough for a man that he neglects (leaves without support) those whose sustenance is his responsibility." Wahb says: Then Sayyiduna Abdullah began narrating to us and said: When the sun sets, it gives greeting, prostrates and asks permission (to rise again), and permission is given to it. Until a day will come when it sets, gives greeting, prostrates and asks permission, but permission will not be given to it. It will say: O my Lord! The journey is long, and if I am not given permission, I will not reach my destination. So it will be held back for as long as Allah wills, then it will be said to it: Rise from where you set. He said: From that day until the Day of Resurrection, "no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before" [Surah al-An'am: 158]. Then he mentioned Gog and Magog and said that no man among them dies until a thousand of his own offspring have been born to him, and behind them there are three more nations whose number no one knows except Allah: (their names are) Mansak, Tawil and Taris.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this chain is written as follows: "Ma'mar, from Ishaq bin Wahb bin Jabir al-Khaywani", which is wrong. The correct form is what we have established (in the text).

Grading: Because of Wahb bin Jabir al-Khaywani, its chain is "hasan".
Reference / Source: It is found in "Jami' Ma'mar" (no. 20810). Al-Mustaghfiri narrated it in full in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (390) by the route of 'Abd bin Humayd, from 'Abd al-Razzaq, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: Its first paragraph has already passed in the author's work at no. (1529) by the route of Sufyan al-Thawri, from Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i.
Reference / Source: The second paragraph was narrated by 'Abd al-Razzaq in his "Tafsir" (2/142), and by his route Nu'aym bin Hammad in "al-Fitan" (1846) and Abu al-Shaykh in "al-'Azamah" (628). Nu'aym joined Muhammad bin Thawr with 'Abd al-Razzaq (in the narration).
Reference / Source: Both of these paragraphs (the first and second) were narrated by Ibn Mandah in "al-Tawhid" (34) by the route of Isra'il, from his grandfather Abu Ishaq, and he declared its chain "sahih".
Note / Clarification: The second paragraph will come later in the author's work at no. (8859) from the narration of Abu Zur'ah bin 'Amr bin Jarir, from 'Abd Allah bin 'Amr, as "marfu'" to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and its chain is sahih.
Note / Clarification: As for its third paragraph, it has already passed at no. (8715) by the route of Shu'bah, from Abu Ishaq; see its takhrij there.
