Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8703

حدثنا أبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن محمد بن يحيى، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي حاتم، حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشجُّ، حدثنا أبو أسامة، عن إدريس بن يزيد الأَوْدي، عن عطيَّة، عن ابن عُمر، في قوله ﷿: ﴿وَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَابَّةً مِنَ الْأَرْضِ﴾ [النمل: 82]، قال: إذا لم يَأمُروا بالمعروف، ولم يَنهَوْا عن المنكَر (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "And when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a beast from the earth" [Surah al-Naml: 82], that he said: "This will be when people abandon enjoining good and forbidding evil."

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف عطية: وهو ابن سعد العَوْفي. أبو سعيد الأشج: هو عبد الله بن سعيد الكندي، وأبو أسامة: هو حماد بن أسامة.
Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of 'Atiyyah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Atiyyah refers to "'Atiyyah bin Sa'd al-'Awfi". Identification of the narrators: "Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj" refers to 'Abdullah bin Sa'id al-Kindi, and "Abu Usamah" refers to Hammad bin Usamah.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 13/ 328 عن أبي أسامة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (13/328) narrated it from Abu Usamah with this same chain.
وأخرجه نعيم بن حماد في "الفتن" (1854) من طريق عبيد الله بن الوليد الوصّافي، عن عطية، به.
Reference / Source: Nu'aym bin Hammad narrated it in "al-Fitan" (1854) by way of 'Ubaydullah bin al-Walid al-Wassafi, from 'Atiyyah, with this same chain.
