It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Murrah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that al-Hakam bin Abi al-As asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission (to enter), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recognised his voice and speech and said: "Give him permission; he is a snake. May the curse of Allah be upon him and upon all who come from his loins, except those of them who believe, and they will be few. They will attain great honour and nobility in this world but will be abased and humiliated in the Hereafter. They will be people of great cunning and deceit. They will be given (everything) in this world, but in the Hereafter they will have no share."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this word has been corrupted into "ائذنوا لرحية", while "al-Talkhis" has "له حبة".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have "ويضعون", while the correct reading is what we have established (in the text).
(7204). Grading: Its chain is weak and munkar, because "Abu al-Hasan al-Jazari" is unknown; al-Dhahabi in "al-Talkhis" declared it defective for this very reason. See our discussion under the two earlier hadiths numbers (621) and (7204). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Ya'la, as in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (4454), and by al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (6/512) (and by way of him Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (57/268)), through two routes from 'Ali bin al-Hakam, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Haythami mentioned it in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" (5/242-243), attributed it to al-Tabarani, and said: "In it is Abu al-Hasan al-Jazari, who is mastur (of undisclosed standing), and the rest of its narrators are thiqah."
