Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8661

It is narrated from Abu Idris al-Khawlani that he heard Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "By Allah! I am the most knowledgeable of people about every trial that will occur until the Hour. That is not because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told me something specially that he did not tell others; rather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was speaking about the trials in a gathering in which I was present, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was enumerating the trials and said: 'Among them are three that will not leave anything; they will be like the summer windstorms; some of them small and some of them great.'" Then (Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) All the members of that gathering have departed (passed away) except me (so I am the only one left who knows these matters).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it!

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Salih is "Ibn Kaysan".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (38/ 23291) narrated it from Ya'qub bin Ibrahim bin Sa'd with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (23292) also narrated it via Fazarah bin 'Umar from Ibrahim bin Sa'd.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (23460) narrated it via the route of Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah, Muslim (2891/ 22) via the route of Yunus bin Yazid al-Ayli, and Ibn Hibban (6637) via the route of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq al-Madani; all three of them narrate it from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, except that 'Abd al-Rahman's narration is "by meaning".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Hakim's istidrak of this hadith (i.e. saying that the two Shaykhs did not include it) is a "dhuhul" (lapse) on his part (since it is in Muslim).
