Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The word "ammah" is taken from manuscript (B); it is not in (K) and (M).
Clarification: This means that all the matters (trials and the like) promised to this ummah will take place within a period of one hundred (100) years.
Details of the narration: This meaning is clarified by the narration of Ayyub from Abu Qilabah in al-Bazzar (3293 - Kashf al-Astar), which has the wording: "wa kullu ma tu'aduna fi mi'ati sanah" (and everything you are promised is within a hundred years).
Grading: Its chain is worthless (talif) because of Ishaq bin Idris, for he is a matruk narrator and Ibn Ma'in accused him of lying.
Technical note: The narrator from him, Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz, is not very strong, but he is not the real defect of the chain, since he has a corroboration.
Corroborations: Muhammad bin Sinan was corroborated by Yahya bin Muhammad bin al-Sakan - who is a thiqah narrator - who narrated it from Ishaq bin Idris in al-Bazzar (4170) and (4188), but al-Bazzar did not cite the text of the hadith there.
Grading: Most of the hadith is "sahih" and has been narrated through routes other than this one, except for two pieces: (1) the sixth part, concerning the hundred years, and (2) the twelfth part, which mentions the people of Jahiliyyah coming on the Day of Resurrection carrying their idols.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): These two parts are narrated only via Abbad bin Mansur, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, in "Musnad al-Bazzar" (4170, 4188, 3293 - Kashf al-Astar). This Abbad is weak when he is alone, and here no reliable narrator corroborated him.
Details of the narration: Rather, in the last piece (the people of Jahiliyyah carrying their idols) he was contradicted by Abd al-Wahhab bin Abd al-Majid al-Thaqafi: al-Husayn al-Marwazi narrated it from Abd al-Wahhab in his additions to "Zuhd Ibn al-Mubarak" (1323), where he narrated it from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, as Abu Qilabah's own statement; and Abd al-Wahhab is thiqah, and a narrator like Abbad cannot be compared with him.
Technical note: Likewise the ninth part of this hadith (the account of the fruit of Paradise) was also narrated only by Abbad bin Mansur from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah.
References: See al-Bazzar (4187), al-Tabarani, "al-Kabir" (1449), al-Tha'labi, "al-Tafsir" 8/ 344, and Abu Nu'aym, "Sifat al-Jannah" (345).
Takhrij of the hadith: The rest of the hadith - except the eleventh part, which concerns begging (asking people) - has been narrated in separate pieces by: Ahmad 37/ (22395, 22406, 22452), Muslim (994, 1920, 2889), Abu Dawud (4252), Ibn Majah (2760), al-Tirmidhi (1966, 2176, 2202, 2219, 2229), al-Nasa'i (9138), and Ibn Hibban (4242, 4246, 7238) via Hammad bin Zayd from Ayyub; and by Muslim (2889), Ibn Majah (10, 3952) and Ibn Hibban (6714) via Qatadah.
Common link of the chain: Both of them (Ayyub and Qatadah) narrate from Abu Qilabah, from Abu Asma' al-Rahabi, from Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him).
Technical note (eleventh part): The part on the gravity of begging was narrated in meaning by Ma'dan bin Abi Talhah, from Thawban, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever asks people for something while he is free of need of it, it will be a blemish on his face on the Day of Resurrection." Its chain is sahih; it was recorded by Ahmad 37/ (22420) and others. See also the hadith of Abu al-Aliyah from Thawban that has passed with the author (al-Hakim) under (1517).
Fourth part: And the fourth piece (tribes joining the polytheists) has passed with the author just recently under number (8589) via Abbad, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah.
Reference: This hadith is in Sahih Muslim under number (2889), in the Book of Trials and the Signs of the Hour.
Technical note: There it is narrated with the first and second pieces through the chain of Mu'adh bin Hisham, from his father, from Qatadah, and this is correct; for the one who narrates from Qatadah is Hisham al-Dastuwa'i, not his son Mu'adh, since Mu'adh did not live in Qatadah's time.
