أخبرنا أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المحبوبي، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا إسرائيل والحسن بن صالح، عن سماك بن حَرْب، عن جابر بن سَمُرةَ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لا يزال هذا الدين قائمًا يقاتل عليه المسلمون حتى تقوم الساعة" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يخرجاه!

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This religion will always remain established, and the Muslims will continue fighting for its supremacy until the Hour is established."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل سماك بن حرب.
Grading: This hadith is sahih li-ghayrihi, and this chain is hasan because of Simak bin Harb.
وأخرجه أحمد 34/ (21011) عن أبي أحمد الزبيري وخلف بن الوليد، عن إسرائيل وحده، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 34/ (21011) from Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri and Khalaf bin al-Walid, from Isra'il alone, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد أيضًا (20859) و (20985) و (21014)، وابنه في زياداته (20933)، ومسلم (1922)، وابن حبان (6837) من طرق عن سماك بن حرب، به وبعضهم يقول فيه: عن جابر بن سمرة: نُبِّئت أن النبي ﷺ قال؛ وهذا لا يضر، فإن كان محفوظًا فهو مرسل صحابي، والكل على الاحتجاج به. واستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad also narrated it (20859), (20985) and (21014), as did his son in his additions (20933), Muslim (1922) and Ibn Hibban (6837), via several routes from Simak bin Harb, in the same way.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Some of the narrators say in it, from Jabir bin Samurah: "nubbi'tu anna al-Nabi qala" (I was informed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said); this does no harm, for if these words are preserved then it is the mursal of a Companion, and all agree on using it as proof. And al-Hakim's inclusion of it (in al-Mustadrak) is an oversight on his part.
