حدثني أبو أحمد عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن يَزْدادَ الرازي المذكِّر ببُخارى من أصل كتابه العتيق، حدثنا أبو محمد عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن محمد بن الحجاج بن رِشْدِين بن سعد المَهْري بمصر، حدثني أبو سعيد المفضَّل بن محمد الجندي، حدثنا صامت بن معاذ، حدثنا يحيى بن السكن، حدثنا محمد بن خالد الجندي، عن أبان بن صالح، عن الحسن، عن أنس، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "لا يزدادُ الأمرُ إلَّا شدّةً، ولا الناسُ إلّا شُحًّا، ولا تقوم الساعة إلا على شرار الناس، ولا مهديَّ إلّا عيسى ابن مريم (2) " (3). قال صامت بن معاذ: عَدَلتُ إلى الجَنَد مسيرة يومين من صنعاء، فدخلتُ على مُحدِّث لهم فطلبت هذا الحديث، فوجدتُه عنده عن محمد بن خالد الجندي، عن أبان بن أبي عياش عن الحسن، عن النبي ﷺ مثله (1). وقد رُوِيَ بعضُ هذا المتن عن عبد العزيز بن صُهَيب، عن أنس بن مالك، عن رسول الله ﷺ. قال: أما حديث عبد العزيز عن أنس بن مالك:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Affairs will only increase in hardship, the people will only increase in miserliness, the Hour will be established only upon the worst of people, and there is no (perfect) Mahdi except Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him)."
Samit bin Mu'adh says: I travelled a distance of two days from San'a and reached al-Janad. I went to one of their hadith scholars and asked for this hadith, and I found it with him through the chain of Muhammad bin Khalid al-Jandi, from Aban bin Abi Ayyash, from al-Hasan, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in the same way.
Samit bin Mu'adh says: I travelled a distance of two days from San'a and reached al-Janad. I went to one of their hadith scholars and asked for this hadith, and I found it with him through the chain of Muhammad bin Khalid al-Jandi, from Aban bin Abi Ayyash, from al-Hasan, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in the same way.

(2) من قوله: "هذا حديث يعدُّ في أفراد الشافعي" إلى هنا سقط من (ز) و (ب)، واستدركناه من (ك) و (م) و "تلخيص الذهبي" و "إتحاف المهرة" لابن حجر (797).
Note / Clarification: The text from the author's words "هذا حديث يعدُّ في أفراد الشافعي" up to here had dropped out of manuscripts (Z) and (B); we have completed it from manuscripts (K) and (M), al-Dhahabi's "Talkhis" and Ibn Hajar's "Ithaf al-Maharah" (797).
(3) صحيح لغيره كسابقه، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف يحيى بن السكن ومحمد بن خالد الجندي، وصامت بن معاذ ذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات" وقال: يَهِمُ ويُغرِب. وأخرجه البيهقي في "بيان خطأ من أخطأ على الشافعي" ص 299 - 300 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: This hadith, like the previous one, is sahih li-ghayrihi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, this chain is weak because of the weakness of Yahya bin al-Sakan and Muhammad bin Khalid al-Janadi. Samit bin Mu'adh was mentioned by Ibn Hibban in "al-Thiqat", and he said: He falls into error and narrates unusual (gharib) reports.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Bayan Khata' man Akhta'a ala al-Shafi'i" (pp. 299-300) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim with this same chain.
(1) إن كان صامت بن معاذ حفظ هذا الإسناد ولم يَهِم فيه، فيكون محمد بن خالد الجندي قد خلط فيه، وأبان بن أبي عياش متروك الحديث.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): If Samit bin Mu'adh preserved this chain and did not err in it, then it is Muhammad bin Khalid al-Janadi who confused it; and Aban bin Abi Ayyash (who is in the chain) is matruk (abandoned) in hadith.
