حدثنا عيسى بن زيد بن عيسى بن عبد الله بن مسلم بن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل بن أبي طالب، حدثنا يونس بن عبد الأعلى الصَّدَفي، حدثنا محمد بن إدريس الشافعي، أخبرنا محمد بن خالد الجندي، عن أبان بن صالح، عن الحسن، عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لا يزداد الأمرُ إلَّا شِدّة، ولا الدِّينُ إلَّا إدبارًا، ولا الناسُ إِلَّا شُحًّا، ولا تقومُ الساعةُ إلَّا على شرار الناس، ولا مهدي إلَّا عيسى ابن مريم" (1).
هذا حديث يُعَدُّ في أفراد الشافعي ﵁، وليس كذلك، فقد حدَّث به غَيرُه:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Affairs will only increase in hardship, the religion will only increase in turning away (receding), the people will only increase in miserliness and greed, the Hour will be established only upon the worst of people, and there is no (perfect) Mahdi except Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him)."
This hadith is counted among the solitary narrations of Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him), but that is not so, because others besides him have also narrated it.

(1) صحيح لغيره دون قوله: "ولا مهديَّ إلا عيسى ابن مريم" فمنكر، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف محمد بن خالد الجندي، وقد حكم الذهبي في ترجمة الجندي هذا من كتابه "ميزان الاعتدال" على قوله: "ولا مهدي … إلخ" بالنكارة.
Grading: This hadith is sahih li-ghayrihi, except for this portion: "ولا مهديَّ إلا عيسى ابن مريم" (and there is no Mahdi except Isa son of Maryam), because this portion is munkar.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is weak because of the weakness of Muhammad bin Khalid al-Janadi. Imam al-Dhahabi, in his book "Mizan al-I'tidal", in the biography of al-Janadi, judged his statement "and there is no Mahdi, etc." to be munkar.
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (4039) عن يونس بن عبد الأعلى، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (4039) recorded it from Yunus bin Abd al-A'la with this same chain.
ويشهد له دون قوله: "ولا مهدي … إلخ" حديث أبي أمامة السالف برقم (8563).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Apart from this portion ("and there is no Mahdi, etc."), the rest of the hadith has as a supporting report the hadith of Abu Umamah that has already passed at number (8563).
