Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and this chain is hasan because of "Sayyar".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Sayyar" is "al-Qurashi al-Umawi, their client (mawla), al-Dimashqi"; he is not "Sayyar bin Salamah" as the author (al-Hakim) named him.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (36/22150) recorded it from Abu Sa'id, the client of Banu Hashim, from Abdullah bin Bujayr, with this same chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported (a shahid) by the earlier hadith of Abu Hurayrah, number (8548).
