أخبرنا أبو العباس قاسم بن القاسم السَّيّاري بمرو، حدثنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ، أخبرنا عبدُ الله، أخبرنا نافع بن عمر الجُمَحِيّ، عن أُمَيَّة بن صفوان، عن أبي بكر بن أبي زهير الثَّقفي، عن أبيه قال: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول في خُطبته: "يا أيُّها الناس، تُوشكون أن تعرفوا أهل الجنة من أهل النار"، أو قال: "خيارَكم من شرِارِكم" فقال رجل من الناس: بِمَ يا رسول الله؟ قال: "بالثَّنَاءِ الحَسَنِ والثناءِ السيِّئ، أنتم شهودٌ بعضُكم على بعض" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr bin Abi Zuhayr al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying in his sermon: "O people! Soon you will distinguish the people of Paradise from the people of Hellfire" - or he said: "you will distinguish the best among you from the bad ones." A man asked: O Messenger of Allah! By what means? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By good praise and bad praise, for you are witnesses over one another."
