Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8536

حدثنا محمد بن علي الصَّنعاني بمكة حَرَسَها الله، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن عبَّاد (1)، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا مَعمَر، عن عبد الله بن بن عثمان بن خُثَيم، عن نافع بن سَرْجِس، عن أبي هريرة قال: أيها الناس، أظلَّتكُم فتنٌ كأنها قِطعُ الليل المظلم، أَنجى (2) الناس فيها - أو قال: منها - صاحبُ شاءٍ يأكلُ من رِسْل (3) غنمِه، ورجلٌ من وراءِ الدَّرْب آخذُ بعِنان فرسِه يأكلُ من سيفه (4). موقوف صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: "O people! Tribulations are about to overshadow you like pieces of the dark night. The best person in them (in terms of salvation) will be one who owns goats and lives on the milk of his goats, or a man beyond the frontier (on the battlefield) holding the reins of his horse and eating from (the provision gained by) his sword."
This hadith is mawquf (a Companion's statement) with a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: غياث.
Note / Clarification: In the handwritten manuscripts this is distorted into "غياث".

(2) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: أيها، والتصويب من بقية المواضع في الكتاب.
Note / Clarification: In the handwritten manuscripts this is distorted into "أيها"; the correction is from the other places in the book.

(3) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: رأس، والتصويب من بقية المواضع. والرِّسل: اللبن.
Note / Clarification: In the handwritten manuscripts this is distorted into "رأس"; the correction is from the other places. "Al-risl" means milk.

(4) حديث صحيح مرفوعًا، وهذا إسناد حسن. وهو في "جامع معمر" (20731) و (20762). وسيأتي مكررًا برقم (8643).
Grading: This hadith is sahih as "marfu'", and this chain is "hasan".
Reference / Source: It is in "Jami' Ma'mar" (20731, 20762). And it will come again, repeated, at number (8643).
وقد سلف برقم (2491) من طريق زهير بن معاوية، وسيأتي برقم (8971) من طريق زائدة بن قدامة، كلاهما عن ابن خثيم، به مرفوعًا إلى النبي ﷺ. وهو المحفوظ.
Reference / Source: It has already passed at number (2491) by way of Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah, and will come ahead at number (8971) by way of Za'idah bin Qudamah; both of them narrate it from Ibn Khuthaym as "marfu'" up to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And this is the "mahfuz" (preserved) version.
ورواه نعيم بن حماد في الفتن" (220) عن عبد الله بن المبارك، عن معمر، عن ابن خثيم، عن النبي ﷺ مرفوعًا مرسلًا.
Reference / Source: Nu'aym bin Hammad narrated it in "al-Fitan" (220) from Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Khuthaym, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as marfu' but "mursal".
