Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the handwritten manuscripts this name is distorted into "عود بن عمارة العرى". The correct form is what we have established from the sources of his biography.

Grading: Its chain is extremely weak because of the weakness of "Awn bin Umarah". Some scholars have judged this hadith to be "mawdu'" (fabricated), among them al-Dhahabi, who said in his "Talkhis": "I reckon it is fabricated, and the scholars have declared Awn weak."
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (4057) recorded it from al-Hasan bin Ali al-Khallal, from Awn bin Umarah, with this same chain, except that he said in it: "Abdullah bin al-Muthanna, from his father, from his grandfather".
